Tom Myers

We haven’t found may things Tom can’t do. Not only can he teach and preach and sing and play the guitar, but he can also fix just about anything that’s broken. He’s also quite the athlete. Tom loves watching the Dallas Cowboys (“I’m a huge fan!”), but he is frequently found on or around a basketball court. As a military kid, he doesn’t really have a hometown, but he was always competing. Before serving churches, Tom was a high school basketball coach.

Tom is a lot of fun to be around—after noon! Before noon, we like to leave Tom alone. He even says that mornings are one of his two biggest pet peeves. What’s the other? Answering questions for his staff biography on the church website. We’re pretty sure he answered the questions a little too early in the day. His favorite Scripture, by the way, is Proverbs 16:17, and he has an interesting story about how that came to be. You should ask him about it sometime (but you might want to wait until after noon).

He also has a lot of education. Tom holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Physical Education (he’s one of those smart jocks!), a Masters in Educational Administration, and a Masters in Christian Education. That last one is from our Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.

Tom has been in vocational ministry since 2004, and he has served Central faithfully since April of 2012. His favorite thing about Central? According to him, “My favorite thing is what most people say, and that is the people. They are my family!” We feel the same, Tom!

The most important thing Tom wants you to know about him is that he has a terrific wife and kids. He and Anita are the proud parents of Colton and Courtney. Colton is in his last year at Louisiana Tech (soon to graduate with a degree in aviation).  Courtney is a sophomore at East Texas Baptist University (2020-2021) and is pursuing a degree in secondary education with an eye to teaching high school mathematics when she graduates.
